Centurion Developments Interview – Forgotten But Unbroken

Branislav of Centurion Developments took some time out from their Kickstarter campaign, to give us a quick interview about their game Forgotten but Unbroken.

Tell us about your studio, the people behind it and how it was formed

Centurion Developments was co-founded by me and my friend Robert. Both of us are long time avid gamers and we consider gaming as a good way to relax and rest. Setting up the studio was not easy at all and brought many initial birthing pains. We had to deal with a lot of unexpected problems. We managed to overcome them quite well, fortunately.  I first tried game development over 20 years ago, when things were much more complicated than they are today. There were no official engines like Unity or Unreal back then. I must add here, that these early experiences were only as a hobby, alongside my studies, as it was not yet a fully developed business sector at the time.

The situation is completely different nowadays and that’s why we decided to set up our own studio.  We started as a very small studio and have grown to what we are today, with over 10 of us.

How quickly did you expand the team?

We expanded very slowly as time progressed.

How many team members and offices did you have when you first started?

4 members and 1 office.

How many team members and offices do you have now?

12 members and 1 office.

Tell us a little bit about the story behind your game?

Our game Forgotten but Unbroken is inspired by historical events and characters of the World War II era, with the personal story of the main character Martin is inspired by a real story too.

Most World War II games show famous generals and events. Focus of our game is on the unjustly forgotten heroes who won their glory right on the battlefield, and quite often behind enemy lines. You will meet the most decorated heroes of battlefield, but completely forgotten in time.  Heroes like Jack “Mad Jack” Churchill, Tommy “The Kilted killer” Macpherson, Vasily Zaytsev, Matt “The Ghost” Urban and others. On the other hand, you will face elite units of AXIS like the most dangerous man in Europe Otto Skorzeny (and others).

What inspired you to make your game?

I love turn based strategies and always wanted to play a game like this.   We believe that there is no game like this on the market yet, at least that we know of.

What challenges did you face when you first started?

Our biggest enemy at the beginning was our own lack of experience. We made some mistakes and have used them as learning opportunities.

What would you do differently if you could go back and do it again?

I would be much more careful about selecting team members.

Is your game single / multi-player or both?

Its single player.

What are the minimum software/hardware requirements to play your game?

Here are the minimum requirements:
Intel Core i3 / AMD Phenom II X4
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 950 / AMD Radeon R9 270x

What are the recommended software/hardware requirements to play your game?

Here is the recommended hardware:
Intel Core i5 3GHz / AMD Ryzen 3 3.1 GHz
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 480

Is there an age restriction?

Due to violence and strong language its the minimum age requirement is 16.

Tell us a little about what you have planned next for your game update?

Our plan is to implement working World maps and a deep class system for the characters.

Are you looking for funding/investment to further your games development?

Yes. We are looking for a Publisher and funding.

When do you estimate your game will be launched?

It should be 1Q/2024.

What Platforms do you plan on launching on?

Our main goal is to launch a PC version because strategies are mostly played on PC. After the release we plan to conduct a survey to determine whether there is enough interest for this game amongst console players.

Do you have a Demo?

Our game is available on Steam along with a free limited public play test that is available now.

What other games are you working on right now?

We are working solely on our title Forgotten but Unbroken.

Thanks Branislav!  Good luck with your campaign.
