Set in the 1920s, A private detective takes on a case that involves murder, industrial espionage, and his quest for a missing girl, with the stakes rising as he makes his way to the mega city of Centropolis.
The story follows Marshall, a former lab assistant at ROBOV Robotics, who stumbles upon a motorized quad contraption housing a human brain. With his ingenuity, Marshall is able to communicate with the conscious brain and creates an exo suit to give it a physical form. The brain, which identifies itself as Price, has no recollection of its past or the experiment that brought it to its current state. Together, Price and Marshall embark on a quest to unravel the mystery of Price’s identity. However, their investigation leads them to discover a web of industrial espionage and global conspiracy, ultimately taking them to the heart of the city of Centropolis.
features
EXPLORATION – Explore a parallel 1920s where technology advanced in a different route. Delve into an expansive world that comes to life thanks to the stunning pixel art, dynamic lighting, torrential rain, volumetric fog, and neon lights. Take a ride on an airship and visit places like Redhook, Grand Hills, Robov Regional Headquarters, and more while looking for clues and solving cases.
PUZZLES – Hidden and locked areas can be found throughout the city. To access these areas, you must be quick-witted and solve some puzzles. Deciphering passwords, pipe alignment, and turning on fuses are just a few puzzle types in the city.
CHANGE FORMS – In Tales from Centropolis, players have access to two forms: a fully armored suit and a cerebrum crawler base form. Transforming from the armored suit to the base form can be achieved either by overloading the suit or by running out of power without backup batteries.
The fully armored suit allows players to interact with NPCs and engage in battles with enemies. On the other hand, the cerebrum crawler form does not allow communication with NPCs but grants access to previously inaccessible areas and loot without consuming battery power. However, this form also leaves players vulnerable to enemy attacks.
REAL-TIME BATTLES – Tales from Centropolis employs a fast-paced real-time battle system, drawing inspiration from the early Tales of series games and classic Beat ’em Ups such as River City Ransom. Unlike turn-based RPGs that rely on mashing a single button, battles in this game require quick reflexes and strategic thinking. Enemies are fast and agile, and the challenge increases significantly when faced with multiple enemy types.
Players must pay close attention during battles in Tales from Centropolis, utilizing techniques such as punching, shooting, jumping, blocking, and dodging in order to achieve victory.
BATTLE COMBOS – By upgrading your suit and weapons, you’ll unlock access to new attacks that can be added to your combos, allowing you to dispatch enemies more quickly.
SUPER WEAPONS – Super weapons come with a trade-off. While they can deal significant damage to enemies, they also consume a considerable amount of your suit’s power. Timing your use of super weapons is crucial to your success in battles. To acquire new weapons, players can find or purchase blueprints. Choosing the right weapon for each enemy type can be a determining factor in your survival.
COMPANIONS – Players can summon companions to aid them in battle by selecting from a variety of specialized characters at a nearby phone booth. During combat, players can call upon their chosen companion for assistance. Each companion has a unique set of skills and abilities, so experimenting with different combinations can be the key to success in any given situation.
CHARGING STATIONS – In Tales from Centropolis, the Charging Stations are vital to your survival within the city as they are the only free option available for recharging your battery. To ensure your survival against any forthcoming challenges, it’s crucial to refill your power bar regularly at these stations. If your power bar runs out, you will transform into your vulnerable base form.
SAVE BOOTHS – Save Booths serve various purposes in Tales from Centropolis. Frequent visits to the Save Booths are highly recommended to ensure that you do not lose any progress in the story. You can access your storage box to store and retrieve items at any save booth. Summon a range of unlocked companions to provide assistance during battles whenever you need it.
VENDING MACHINES – To increase profits, all stores have replaced human clerks with vending machines. Each company has its own branded vending machine with a specific selection of items, including drinks, food, batteries, weapon schematics, and recycling options for your old items. These vending machines are available in shops throughout the city.
UPGRADE STATION – Your suit may not be in the best shape for new challenges. To enhance your attack and defensive capabilities, you must upgrade your suit. By upgrading, you can gain additional benefits, such as extra battle attacks, perception boosts, and increased inventory capacity.
To upgrade your suit, you need to collect components by finding or recycling items. Upgrade stations are available in all ReWyre stores.
CASES – Cases are the foundation of any Private Investigator’s career. You can come across cases all over the city, ranging from simple and quick to solve for easy money, to more complex and requiring thorough investigation. It can be beneficial to lend a hand to the individuals you assist, as they may have valuable information for other cases you’re working on. To become the best detective, use your intelligence and search for clues.
UNIQUE DIALOGUE SYSTEM – Our dialogue system draws inspiration from the comic strips of the 1920s, featuring dynamic word bubbles and a library of expressive character portraits. When interrogating citizens, it’s crucial to pay attention, as it could lead to vital information being shared.
